What Gold Dog Mail does

Gold Dog Mail is an iPhone and iPad app that reads the order and shipping emails in your own mailbox and turns them into an order list (retailer, items, price, order number, tracking number, status). Everything is calculated on your device.

Your mailbox and your password

• How it connects. You add your mailbox with its IMAP details. Gold Dog Mail connects directly from your phone to your mail provider over an encrypted TLS connection. Most providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud) ask you to create an app password for this; the app links to each provider's page for that. Gold Dog Mail does not use a Google, Microsoft, Yahoo or Apple sign-in to read your mail.
• Your password. The password or app password is stored in the iOS Keychain, on this device only. It is not sent to Gold Dog or any third party other than your own mail provider when the app logs in.
• Your mail. Message headers (sender, subject, date and similar) and, for messages that look like orders, the message content needed to read the order are stored in a private database inside the app on your device. That database is excluded from iCloud and computer backups and is protected by iOS file protection.
• Order detection. It runs on your device when you scan your inbox for orders. If you turn on Order Notifications in Settings, iOS may also wake the app in the background to check for order updates and show you a local notification. Parsed orders, spending totals and inventory figures are computed on your device and are not sent to us.

Optional features that contact the internet

Besides your mail provider, the app only talks to the internet for the features below.

• Product pictures. Order thumbnails are on by default. Each thumbnail is one product image from an order email, loaded directly from the retailer's own image server over https, the same request your mail app makes when it shows that email. It carries no cookies, tracking pixels in emails are not loaded, and nothing is saved to disk. This tells that retailer's image server that the picture was viewed. You can turn thumbnails off with the photo control on the Orders screen.
• Discord webhooks. Off until you add your own Discord webhook address. If you do (Discord tab), the app posts order alerts (for example retailer, item, status) to that Discord channel, which you control. Discord's own privacy policy applies to messages after they arrive there.
• Unsubscribe. If you tap Unsubscribe on a sender, the app contacts that sender's unsubscribe address on your tap, or opens their page in a browser view. It never happens automatically.
• Tracking links. Tapping Track opens the carrier's own tracking page in your browser. The app does not look up carrier status on its own.
• Remote content in emails. Remote images, scripts and trackers inside emails are blocked by default. Images load only if you tap to load them.

Sign-in (optional) and what we store

You can use Gold Dog Mail without an account by choosing "Continue without account". In that case nothing is sent to a Gold Dog server.

If you choose Sign in with Discord or Sign in with Apple, the app talks to a small sign-in service that we run on Cloudflare. It exists to confirm whether you qualify for free access as a member of House of Carts or our Discord community.

• With Discord, you approve access to your Discord user ID and username and to your membership and roles in specific Discord servers. The service uses this to decide your access, and for people without a qualifying role it checks whether you hold a paid House of Carts membership by looking up your Discord ID with House of Carts's payment provider (Stripe). Nothing else from your Discord account is read.
• With Apple, the service verifies Apple's sign-in token and stores Apple's private user identifier for you. We do not store your name or email address from Apple.
• What we keep. One account record: your Discord ID and username (or your Apple identifier), whether you qualify for free access, your plan, and sign-up and last-sign-in times. The app keeps a session token in the iOS Keychain for up to 30 days.
• What we never receive. Your mailbox, message headers or content, order or tracking data, mailbox passwords, or anything derived from your mail.
• Like any internet service, Cloudflare processes the network address of the request in order to deliver it.

Deleting your data

• Mail data on your device. In the app, go to Settings, then Privacy & Storage, then Delete local mail data.
• Your account. If you signed in, go to Settings, then Privacy & Storage, then Delete account. This deletes your account record on our service and signs you out. You can also email us at the address below and we will delete it.

What we do not do

• No advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
• No selling or renting of personal data.
• No third-party code libraries inside the app.
• No AI features in this version. Your mail is not sent to any AI service.

Children

Gold Dog Mail is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If the app begins to do something that changes the statements on this page (for example a subscription, analytics, or any feature that sends mail content off your device), we will update this page and the App Store privacy details before it ships.
